Edward Lear was a talented author and illustrator who lived in England during the 19th century. He is best known for his nonsense poems which were written in an AABBA rhyme scheme. These humorous verses, known as limericks, depicted zany people doing strange and outrageous deeds. Lear’s intent was to make the readers of his books chuckle and grin over these wild antics.
